Apparently, I have a slightly weird sense of humor.
The Slightly Series began with a fish.
I wasn’t trying to create anything deep or meaningful. I just wanted to paint something that made me smile. Then he got a name — Slightly Unbothered — and suddenly, he had a personality.
And apparently, he needed friends.
Unbothered. Concerned. Tempting.
Somewhere between the ridiculous expressions, oversized eyes, bold colors, and a worm hanging from a hook, I realized I was creating another kind of story.
One about not taking everything — including myself — quite so seriously.
After years of making art that carried meaning, healing, and emotion, these paintings reminded me that joy is enough of a reason to create.
They’re quirky. They’re colorful. They’re a little ridiculous.
And they’re only slightly serious.
